Deposit Checks by iPhone

USAA bank has taken one small leap for geek kind by allowing bankers to deposit checks by simply taking a photo of the check.  It is just one way that the internet is making things more convenient for users to do the everyday tasks that we dread.   USAA will be updating their iPhone app to allow USAA customers to deposit check immediately into their accounts.  You simply use the application to photography the front and back of the check using the built in iPhone camera.

Not all customers will have this feature.  Only about 60% of USAA customers qualify to deposit checks in this manner.  USAA requires that each customer have some sort of insurance and have eligible credit requirements to allow them to deposit checks.  Customers are also not required to send the check in by mail and also they recommend that the check be voided and filed or discarded once the funds have been cleared.

This feature is welcomed by many users.  Most banks including Bank of America, Citibank, and Wells Fargo have an app on the iPhone that allows for routine banking such as checking balance, transfers, and bill pay.  However, only USAA allows for deposit a check by taking a picture of it.
